	Allergies & skin conditions within our own family were the primary concerns when Melanie began formulating the soaps we now proudly offer. Eczema & Psoriasis were addressed not long after the first soap sales, when Melanie researched things that seemed to help those suffering from extreme dry skin. The result was our "Scaly Skin Skedaddle", and the accolades from satisfied customers continue to roll in for this soap. How it all began...

  Handcrafted soaps were the beginnings of Serenity Soapworks in November of 2004. They came about as the result of Melanie's creativity & love of reading, combined with a desire to build a business, based around quality, hand-crafted bath products, for retirement income after teaching. Melanie began reading about soap making and experimenting with recipes the summer of 2001, as the Browns were preparing to move to their new country home in the hills outside the towns of Tuscola & Buffalo Gap, Texas. Sales of the first soaps started in January of 2004.
   In the beginning, there were about 6-8 soaps, using the cold-process lye formula similar to early days soap manufacture. The major difference between then & now is that ours cure out for 4 weeks to become VERY gentle on your skin.
  Our soaps changed in quality & appearance, as Melanie strived to improve her soaps. Most soaps now include goats' milk for additional moisturizing of your skin.  Our soaps are primarily cold-process, lye soaps, cured over about 4 weeks.The soap list now includes over 40 unique fragrances!  Soy wax candles & other quality hand-made lotions & bath salts were soon to follow about 4 months after soap sales began.
  Our private label candles are 100% soy wax with all cotton wicks and are now marketed under the same name as the soaps. We also offer bath salts, solid lotion bars, sugar scrubs, gift baskets and more. If you don't see what you're interested in, e-mail or call and ask!!
